Information for Parents and Carers

Welcome to the Sunflower Club. We aim to provide safe and stimulating play, whilst encouraging fair play within a sharing and caring environment.

The Club is available for children aged 4 to 8 years.  We aim to provide this service, in the first instance, for those children attending Recreation Road Infant School.

Our opening times are as follows:

During School Term

Before School Club   8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Booking essential.

We have places for up to 24 children in each session.  Children can arrive anytime after 8 a.m. and will be escorted to their classrooms at 8.50 a.m.

A healthy breakfast is offered from 8 a.m. to 8.30 a.m.

After School Club   3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

We have places for up to 50 children in each session.

The club is based in the large school hall and we have use of two further rooms and the very large playing fields attached to the school. The children are offered a drink and piece of fruit and biscuit when they arrive and we offer a snack tea available from 4pm to 5pm.

Snack Tea
The children have a choice of menus and our healthy snacks include:

Rice, pasta, noodles, pitta bread, toast, naan bread, crackers, rice cakes with cheese and ham and a choice of up to 6 fruits and vegetables each day.  We aim to offer a variety of food and encourage the children to eat  healthy snacks.

Booking

A completed registration form is required for each child attending the Club.

We are happy to accept short notice/same day bookings when we have places available.  Please contact the Manager on 07950 471612.  We cannot, however, guarantee the availability of a place.

Location of the After School Club

The Club is located in the main hall; we also use the library.  Children attending the After School Club are asked to wait in their own classrooms until a member of staff from the After School Club comes and collects them.

The Club has access to the school playing fields and adventure play equipment; children are always supervised by a member of staff from the Club during outside play.

The Management Committee

The Sunflower After School Club functions as a registered charity.  Although the Club operates within Recreation Road Infant School it is a totally independent organisation which is managed by a management committee.  The Management Committee comprises of a minimum of 4 parents whose children attend the Club, and the staff working in the Club.   We are reliant on the support of all the parent whose children attend.

The committee meets half-termly to discuss issues, which affect the running and function of the Club, and parents are always invited to attend the meetings.  Dates and times of the meetings are normally advised in advance.

If you have any skills that you feel you can offer to the Club we would like to hear from you.  If you have an unusual hobby or collection that you can share with the children please let us know.

We would also appreciate your ideas to help us raise funds for new equipment for the Club.
